 Square plate washers have a larger surface area than round washers. They develop more friction when tightening against wood. Larger and thicker than standard washers. (comparable to dock washers)

Dock washers have a larger than normal outside diameter. Dock washers are also thicker than normal washers. They are only available in Hot Dipped Galvanized.
